Turning Storage Boxes into Cash
Opening booster boxes produces a mountain of common, uncommon, and non-holo rare cards known as bulk. Left unsorted, bulk occupies closet space. Organized properly, bulk represents tangible cash value or trade credit.
Step 1: Sort by Category & Game
Separate cards into clear categories:
- Commons & Uncommons (C/UC): Grouped by game (Pokémon, MTG, Yu-Gi-Oh!).
- Bulk Holos & Reverse Holos: Vendors pay higher bulk rates for holo cards than standard commons.
- Playable Tournament Staples: Pull out trainer/spell cards played in current tournament meta decks—these sell individually for $0.50 to $2.00 each!
Step 2: Use 1,000 to 3,200-Count Corrugated Storage Boxes
Store bulk in standard cardboard BCW Monster Storage Boxes (available at any local card store). Pack cards standing upright facing the same direction. Count cards into neat 100-card stacks using painter's tape dividers for easy counting.
Current Average Bulk Payout Rates
- English C/UC Bulk: $3.00 – $6.00 per 1,000 cards.
- Holo / Reverse Holo Bulk: $30.00 – $50.00 per 1,000 cards ($0.03 – $0.05 each).
- Bulk Ultra Rares (EX/V/GX): $0.25 – $0.50 per card.
